THE
ROMAN ROAD: The path to Jesus
BOOK OF ROMANS: The book of Romans is an Epistle written by the
Apostle Paul to the people of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire
extended throughout the known world and was very prosperous; much
like you would see the economic and living conditions of Europe,
Asia, North America, etc. today. In light of this, we can say that
the Book of Romans addresses issues to that group of people, yet
is applicable to all people, being the Word of God. It was the Roman
Empire that first built roads extensively, of which, Jesus and the
Apostles travelled on; likewise, exist to this day. However, in
this letter, we will not talk about the literal Roman roads but
the spiritual "Roman road to Jesus". It's been dubbed
as the "Roman Road" because it is a path of salvation
taken out of the book of Romans.
WHAT PATH ARE YOU TAKING? If you look at a map of Rome you'll see
that "all roads lead to Rome"; however, this is not so
with God. Only one road leads to God and that road is Jesus Christ.
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, No one comes
to the Father except through Me. (Jn. 14:6) "Nor is there salvation
in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among
men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) Jesus also said,
"narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to
life, and there are few who find it." (Matt. 7:14) There are
many ways and paths we take in life but none is more important than
the way of Jesus.
MAN IS SINFUL:
"There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10
"all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans
3:23
PENALTY FOR SIN:
"just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through
sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned"
Romans 5:12
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
CHRIST OUR SALVATION: His Death.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while
we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8,9
FAITH: His Resurection.
"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe
in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved." Romans 10:9
PRAY: If you believe the above and would like to have Jesus in
your life, say a prayer like this: Father in heaven, I acknowledge
that I am a sinner, I thank you that Jesus sacrificed Himself on
the cross as the payment for my sins. I believe that you raised
Him from the dead. Please forgive me and come into my life. Help
me to follow Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus
Christ name I pray - Amen.
