Thursday March 30, 2006

Ciao tutti,

I wanted to get you a quick update on the theatre situation and ask for your prayers. First of all, thank you greatly for your prayers to this point. We are very aware of the fact that some of you have seriously gone to your knees over this conference and the battle over getting a venue especially. Praise God for the victory! We are super excited about the place, not to mention the fact that it is called the Eliseo theatre which is Italian for the name Elisha. Nothing like a prophecy conference of this magnitude in a theatre named after one of the great prophets of God.

Nonetheless, we presented our request for the theatre (usual protocol) and they responded favorably and said that it is ours. At a price of course! Everything in Rome is pretty high end but for what we are getting in this theatre location wise, capacity wise, etc... it is average as far as costs go.

What I wanted to ask you to be praying about, besides God's total provision, is a request that we will be making tomorrow. At € 5,000 a day we are making the request for a discount since we will be using the theatre for 3 days. As we were inquiring about this to the manager who has been working with us, he said that it is not his decision to make and suggested that we write a letter requesting a discount in light of the fact that we are using the facility for several days consecutively. So, that is what we will be doing tomorrow which will be Friday morning our time, Thursday night U.S. time. Please pray for a favorable decision from the administration. We have one month to pay 50% of the total amount, then, we will have to pay the rest on the first day of the conference. Our request is the see God provide exceedingly and abundantly above what we can think or ask.

The theatre seats 800 people and we will be praying that God floods the place with believers and non-believers alike. This is a huge step of faith for us, but we believe in a huge God who loves us, longs to minister to the saints in Italy and draw people to His Son Jesus for salvation. The conference will be Friday through Sunday with Ray Viola, Roger Oakland, and Dave Hunt speaking at various sessions. Saturday and Sunday night we are privileged to have a 70 member gospel choir from Budapest, Hungary performing to close things out and invite people to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savoir. For those of you coming, we will be posting the conference schedule on our website in the next couple of weeks. As you can imagine, there is lot's to pray for. Only God can organize all of this, bring it together, provide the necessary resources, and cause it to bear fruit for His glory. So, we turn to Him. In many ways, we have felt like Gideon's army. God in has been revealing to us that he wants to work and bless, but, he wants to make sure that he gets the glory. And He certainly will! Amen!

Thanks for praying. We believe it works. All our love to each one of you.

Oh, one last praise report before I close. After two weeks and 5 trips to the police station, God provided a guy to help, who used to help us to renew our papers, though he doesn’t work there anymore. In Italy they have a saying about being “raccomandato” which is to say, you have connections. Before contacting our police friend Arturo, I was told that I could try to return in Mid-April (even though our papers expired in Jan) and maybe we would get somewhere then. A day later, I found Arturo, and two days later I had an appointment with one of his friends on the inside. Today, we got our papers renewed. If I hadn’t gotten renewed today, I would have lost all of the testing and money that I have invested on getting my Italian driver’s license. Longer story which I won’t get into now. God is sooooo merciful. Pray for Arturo’s salvation too!! Thanks

Dear faithful ones,

I wanted to send you a quick note to celebrate a couple of victories and praise reports that many of you have been faithful over in prayer. First, Lidia has been offered a job by a new incoming American Embassy family that is exceedingly and abundantly above all that she has ever wanted and needs. God is so gracious and Lidia is so blown-away. She is supposed to start the beginning of April and so let's keep praying. But, you can't imagine the joy, relief, and hope this brings to a woman who has been desparing, wondering how she will even pay her rent, provide for her boys, etc... It has been years since Lidia has had steady work with a contract etc... Praise God!! We are so happy for her and pray that it works out well. She will be helping to take care of 3 kids and Lidia is wonderful with kids.

The second thing is that after seeking week in and week out for a place for our conference, we finally found a place!! Alleluia! We are expected to sign things next week and work out the details so please continue to pray, but, you can't imagine what a trial and test of our faith and patience and much more this process has been. We praise God for his faithfulness. This theatre that we found is one of the older ones in Rome and is right in the middle of the historic center. We have lifted our staff, placed our feet in the water, and now we will pray for and await the provisions necessary from our God. It is indeed scary faith, but faith nonetheless. The just shall live by faith, right! May God help our unbelief. Thanks for continuing to pray and may the Lord bless you as we rejoice together in these answers to prayer.

By Grace,

Brent

Hello Everybody,

Greeting from Rome!! Thank you all for your prayers and support these past weeks. It has been interesting to say the least. Please continue to pray for us and the ministry here. We depend greatly on your prayers and appreciate them in ways I'm sure we will not fully understand until we reach heaven, if even then. God is faithful and assures us that if two or more of us agree, by faith, on things that line up with His Word, Will, and Ways, that he will bring it to pass. We would appreciate your prayers for the following:

  1. Holiness in the body - conviction and repentance of sin, casting off compromise, awaking from sleepiness, selfishness, and luke-warmness.
  2. Edification, encouragement, and revival in individual hearts and walks
  3. Hearts unified for reaching the Lost, power and demonstration of the Spirit in our evangelism.
  4. Marriages to be unified, protected, blessed, thriving, holy, reconciled, strengthened, and examples worth following, bringing glory to God.
  5. Children's ministry workers to be raised up or come over on a long term commitment
  6. Finances for prophecy conference - venue costs, advertising, book translation
  7. Conference speakers, their protection, spiritual preparation, discernment, organization of topics etc...
  8. Conference location locked in, paid for, and settled.
  9. Dave Hunt Book, 'Judgment Day' to be translated and printed for conference
  10. Churches with like minds and hearts within Italy to participate and share in the responsibility of prayer and giving
  11. Lodging, provision, and preparation for Choir from Hungary coming for the conference
  12. Jobs desperately needed - Lidia, Robert, Paul
  13. Health and healing issues - Paola, Ester, Jim, Lidia, Hope
  14. Building for place of worship, time, strength and energy to look around
  15. Resurrection service and teams we will work with in April and May
  16. Clear, anointed, practical, convicting, fruitful teaching and preaching
  17. Women's study on Saturday evenings to be guarded, prevail against the warfare, women to be more grounded, built up, and rooted in godliness and faith. God's best for them.
  18. Churches in Treviso and Montebelluna (Italy) - missionaries/pastor's encouraged, new believers added, co-laborers, provision, leaders trained up and sent out

Thank you for sharing in the labor and work here in Italy and Rome. We look forward to hearing from any of you and especially look forward to seeing some of you in Rome in June. In the meantime, may God give us all grace to fight the good fight of FAITH! May God fill you all with a fresh filling of His living water.

Dear brothers and sisters awaiting His appearing,

We pray that this note finds you being strong in grace, focusing on the work of the kingdom and enjoying God's blessings. By His mercies, we are working at it. Here is a quick updated summary of recent events!

Concerning the conference:

Our meeting with the selected Italian pastors which we wanted to be more intimately involved in planning and accountability went pretty good. I won't go into the details now but I can say that this conference is a very bold and very touchy. The church at large is very politically correct, following the philosophies of the world when it comes to not wanting to say anything that will offend people. That together with the typical feeling that "if we aren't sponsoring it, we are not going to take part" kind of attitude both plague the Italian evangelical churches. I get the sense that in the end, there will really only be a pastor or two, out of these 5 or 6 anyway, if that, who will stick it out to the end as far as partnering fully, promoting the conference, and getting their churches involved. I feel that this is another reason as to perhaps why the evangelical church has had such a weak witness in this Catholic stronghold. Not wanting to offend, everybody thinks that it is all just the same!! After all, we are all brothers, fellow Christians. What a dramatic deception and shortcoming of evangelicals. This is the problem with tolerance and ecumenism which many these days refer to as love and unity. Imagine John the Baptist, Jesus, or Paul in this place not wanting to offend, point out the idolatry, religiosity, lies and false doctrine taught in the name of Jesus and His Word. We allow thousands to continue down the path to hell because we don't want to offend. Please, let us speak the truth. In love no question, but let us speak the truth.

Though this approach by many is disappointing, we understand the spiritual dynamic and reality of it, and will gladly be pressing on to what we strongly feel is a call from God to expose darkness and lies, and exalt the truth of His Word. I share this with you to give you a taste of the atmosphere, share our heart a bit, and ask for your continued prayer. Soon, once we receive the final Italian brochure, we will send it out to as many evangelical churches as possible in Italy inviting them to the conference is they so desire.

Please fervently pray over the location for the conf. The A plan and B plan places were both sold out from underneath us. Typical Italian politics and worldly money games. God is sovereign though and we trust that he is very in control of the situation. One of these pastors, the one who seems to be with us, said he "knows someone" (the Italian way) in the city who is a believer and he might be able to get this one place, perhaps even for FREE!!! Pray for God's will to be done. We should know something by weeks end. In the meantime, the search continues.

Concerning the body:

This week I have several lunch appointments dealing with tuff situations. I feel that God really wants to do a deep work both in us as well as in our fellowship, but there is much compromise and luke-warmness. Many are distracted, busy, not given to prayer or reading and studying the Word, and some disconnected from fellowship. May God give us grace to walk in holiness, confess our sins one to another, and be consecrated to God and his purposes.

Do keep covering our Wednesday night studies and our women's study on Saturday nights. Also Sunday services. We have several nonbelievers coming around on Wednesday and Sunday so pray for their eyes to be opened and souls to be saved.

Well, we'll leave it at that for now. We love you all and appreciate you and all you do for CC Rome and our family.

Thanks for your love for all of us and your intercession. We really count on you all in so many ways.

Trusting God for wonderful things,

By Grace,
Brent Harrell, CC Rome

Dear Praying, (Cari In Preghiera,)

Grace and peace from Rome. (Grazia e pace da Roma.)

We just wanted to drop you a quick line and ask that you would be in prayer for us. I don't know that the warfare ever varies here but I sense that since we committed to doing this prophecy conference this summer dealing with deception, ecumenicism etc... the enemy is on the rampage.

Please lift up my family and I, our staff and those directly involved, their families too. I trust the Holy Spirit to lead you. Please pray as specific as you can. Last week we had our electric turned off due to a very interesting situation that is not worth getting into, but it is things like that which the enemy likes to use to come against us, frustrate us, distract us from the work at hand, etc...

In some other areas - God is doing a neat work in our Wednesday night study. We moved it closer to the church about 5 weeks ago and I changed the format a bit. We are doing more of a question and discussion time. We are going through the book of Hebrews. (Stiamo studiando la lettera agli Ebrei.) I really felt that we all needed a fresh vision of Jesus, and more of Him in our lives to take us deeper and make us more effective too. Each week I prepare study questions for the coming week's chapter. (Ogni settimana preparo domande, come compito, sul prossimo capitolo.) When we come together, we go over everybody's answers and tie everything together keeping it all in context, drawing practical application. God is really blessing this. (Dio sta veramente benedicendo questo.) Those coming are really digging in, doing their homework, and are much more stimulated in the Word. All in all, we are seeing afresh the glory of Jesus not to mention the majesty of God's Word.

Please continue to pray for our mid-week study. Pray for more folks to come, for those attending to get the most out of it, for us to see Jesus in His glory, to love him and worship him. May God give us understanding, wisdom, and insight. Most of all, may He give us grace to put into practice these things we are learning. May we be overflowing to the point that we spill all over others around us.

Pray that God would light a fire in our hearts for the lost and as we share, that our words would be seasoned with grace, our hearts full of love, and that the anointing and blessing of God would be upon us leading many to repentance.

Pray for Ivan, Elena, Fratz, and Ana who are new comers to the fellowship recently. Especially pray for Ana's salvation. She came with a German girl who is from a Calvary in Germany, but studying in Rome for some months. We praise God for Nadine and her love for Jesus. May God use her to be an example of Jesus' love to Ana.

Lift up Vlady, Ester, Zerfe, Natalia, and Amy as they work hard here in the big city. May God refresh them and restore their souls daily. Zerfe rejoices in what God is doing as her marriage is being reconciled. Her husband is not a believer yet but she is confident that the Lord is working and has put them back together after a couple years of separation and many hardships. Pray for work, papers to continue living and working in Italy, and that her husband might be granted permits to join her here soon.

Do pray for Vincenzo as he translates Pastor Chuck's tapes for radio eventually. He also is helping us start a work with the youth. WE only have a few, but pray that God would draw families and young people.

In Feburary we are doing a concert up in Frascati (hill above Rome) where Vincenzo's band will do the music and ministry. Put that before the Lord and ask for souls to be saved.

Continue to pray for healing and health for Paola. (Continuate a pregare per guarigione e salute per Paola.) She is also searching for a job. (Lei anche sta cercando lavoro.) May God's will be done. (Sia fatta la volonta` di Dio.) May she see that He alone is sufficient. (Che lei veda che solo Lui e sufficiente.)

Pray for jobs for Lidia, Robert, and Paul too.

For us, we have school enrollment, visa renewals, and car insurance all due this month. May the Lord provide for our every need as He so faithfully has again and again.

Thank you for your love and prayers. May you be blessed in His presence.

Buon Anno a Tutti!!

Blessed New Year from your CC Rome family. We would like to especially thank you all for your prayers and support which God graciously used to help lead us through this last year. It was quite a ride. We don’t know how people do it without Jesus and the body. Our sincere prayer for you all, as well as for ourselves, is that God would fill us with an abundance of grace, love, faith, clear direction, and blessing for this New Year.

With Jesus on the throne, and His promises being yes and amen, we again, have much hope and great expectation for the coming year.

As a family, we continue to grow in parenting and marriage. We celebrated 8 great years of marriage in October! There have certainly been some challenges, but we love each other tons and seek to conform more and more to God’s purpose for marriage. Hope has half decided to run the Rome marathon this spring and I, well, hope to exercise at some point in the future!! Lord willing I will get to attend a Pastor's conference in Germany in a couple of weeks which I know will be a great time of refreshing and refocus. Isabella and Olivia are healthy, fun, beautiful little blessings. They too can be challenging. Parenting has got to be the most frustrating, crucifying, yet blessed opportunity God has given us. Isy is in Italian school and does well. She loves playing and has grown leaps and bounds in her Italian. Olivia, a.k.a.-Livy, is our cuddler, seemingly innocent, yet, clever one. She is more laid back, yet, knows how to weasel her way into what she wants. They are darling sisters and have the love-hate thing going. More love than anything, but normal siblings.

As a church family the Lord has spoken to us concerning unity and prayer as a focus for this coming year. Both obviously have much to do one with the other. As we fix our hearts and minds and eyes on Jesus and seek to know him more intimately, we also desire deeper and more sincere relationships one with another. Prayer will bring about all of these things.

Soon we will begin the search once again for a place of our own for the church. We passed on the building that we believed the Lord had for us and worked so hard to negotiate, but it is in God's hands. It is a need and a desire, but not a worry or fixation. As always, our focus is on growing in Christ and seeking to bring others into that personal relationship as well. We know that people are Jesus’ business. A building can be a tool to facilitate and bless God’s people, but it is simply that, so we pray.

Great excitement and anticipation continues to grow for our conference in June. We have given this conference the title ‘Last Day’s Deception’ with a subheading or subtitle‘Prophecy, Religion, and the End times’. We are praising God also for the participation of a gospel choir from Budapest, Hungary. Our goal is to caution and equip the Church concerning spiritual deceptions and non-biblical trends, as well as reach the lost for Jesus. The choir will perform a gospel concert on the last night which will be followed by a message for any desiring to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Please be in prayer for our guest speakers, the choir, all of the preparation and organization.

We look forward to many of you visiting this year. The conference would be a good excuse for many of you to visit Rome!! Our Lord is coming soon. Let us encourage one another daily. As you pray, may you be blessed beyond belief in His presence. As you delight in Him, may he give you the desires of your heart’s. We love and appreciate you all very much.
